Update on Tierney’s fitness as Mikel Arteta greets a couple of Arsenal defenders

Update on Kieran Tierney's fitness as Mikel Arteta greets two Arsenal defenders

A number of noteworthy conclusions were unveiled at the post-Burnley press conference held by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta on Saturday.

Odegaard on target

Of course, the Gunners were back in action recently.

Arteta and co made the trip to Turf Moor for a Premier League showdown, aiming to build a first three-point shot of the season that boosted morale last time out.

And when all was said and done in Lancashire, taking two wins out of two is precisely what Arsenal did.

A lone goal, scored by Martin Odegaard at the half-hour mark, was finally enough to separate the sides when the final whistle came after a close 90-minute encounter.

After Bukayo Saka was knocked down on the edge of the Burnley area, Norwegian creator Odegaard stepped in to double a precise free kick past the clutches of Nick Pope:

In turn, on the back of a test outing on Saturday afternoon, in which the club’s stars were put to the test by an ever-physical Burnley team, it has since been a little surprise to see several stars of the club. Arsenal selected to receive accolades.

And such a theme was firmly carried over to Mikel Arteta’s post-match press conference, and the Spaniard was evidently impressed by the mammoth Gabriel Magalhaes:

“We know that he is a player with an incredible future who has already given us a lot. It’s not much more difficult than playing here in the Premier League and today was fantastic. ”

When drawn in the arrival of summer, Takehiro Tomiyasu, also showered with praise on the back of his second consecutive stellar display in his new club colors, Arteta added:

I think they were both great. I thought the four in the back were great overall. ‘

However, a concern on an otherwise positive day for recent visitors to Turf Moor was on the staff front.

The problem came late in action on Saturday, when Kieran Tierney was stopped, before being forced to limp by Nuno Tavares.

The Arsenal boss, in turn, was inevitably asked for a post-match update on Tierney’s well-being, and went on to confirm that the Scotsman was suffering from ‘cramps’:

Again he had a problem. I think he had cramps. The field has been quite difficult today, it has been quite long ”.
