Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp gives uncertain update on Thiago injury

Jürgen Klopp provides updated information on Thiago's injury after Palace

Liverpool’s Thiago could be facing injury problems

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp may sweat over Spanish international midfielder Thiago’s physical condition after the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona master was injured in the Reds’ 3-0 win against Crystal Palace this afternoon .

Thiago was retired after 62 minutes of action at Anfield, and Klopp confirmed in his post-match comments that his situation lacks clarity at this time.

It’s another unfortunate turn of events for the Liverpool player in a career that has already seen him sidelined with a number of serious injuries, particularly to the knee (s), dating back to 2009-10.

And the timing couldn’t be worse either, after Klopp recently reflected on Thiago and his first year at the club. while registering stating that the club and its fans will soon see the best of a player he labeled as “world class”.

“The start was not perfect because he caught Covid and was injured early. That makes everything a bit more difficult. He showed the type of player that he can and will be for us, so there is much more to come.

Now it’s a year, but it’s really only half a year because of all the things that happened; entering a new club in the most difficult period of our lives. It installed very well. His family is here and he is in the middle of the team and he has a very good character and personality, and obviously a world-class player.

The understudy appearance could put Keita in line to replace

One man’s misfortune is often another’s gain, and in Naby Keita’s case, the former RB Leipzig player could be in line to replace Thiago if the Spaniard faces another spell on the treatment table.

Keita came in as his replacement with just under 30 minutes to go and did not hurt himself by making his case for a run on Day XI of the match should the opportunity arise, much to the delight of his coach.

Close to Keita and Andre Gomes

There is hardly a plethora of options for Klopp when it comes to core areas. Aside from the aforementioned pairing, the German director only has Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, and academy graduate Curtis Jones as true central options even though Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner have substituted for the medium in the past.

If Keita ever had a chance to claim a true claim to his status in the first team setup, the time might be now.
