Bailey & McGinn injury updates following Aston Villa win over Everton

Leon Bailey and John McGinn injury updates following Aston Villa win over Everton

Updates on the well-being of Aston Villa couple Leon Bailey and John McGinn, who were forced to leave the club’s meeting with Everton early, have since surfaced online.

Cash kicks in

Dean Smith’s men resumed their Premier League campaign recently.

Following a totally unpredictable opening in 2021/22, which had seen them rack up just four points out of twelve available, Claret and Blue welcomed high-flying Everton at Villa Park with a view to getting back into form.

And when all was said and done Saturday night, getting things back on track is precisely what Aston Villa has accomplished.

An explosive 15-minute period in the second half culminated with the hosts finding the net a trio of times, to emerge on the right side from an impressive 3-0 result.

Matty Cash was the first to score, before substitute Leon Bailey added an own goal by Lucas Digne shortly thereafter to complete the score with fifteen minutes remaining:

‘Don’t think it’s too serious’

However, a stellar night’s work for the hosts at Villa Park, at least to some extent, was affected by a couple of hits to the front of the staff.

The most notable was the one that occurred ten minutes from time, when Leon Bailey, on the back of a 20-minute cameo in which the man bag opened both a goal and an assist, was forced to limp away from the procedures.

In turn, speaking during a post-match interview, the Jamaican was inevitably asked for an update on his well-being.

And, in a boost to everyone associated with the Villans, Bailey went on to ease fears about his fitness, confirming his hope that the problem isn’t anything ‘too serious’:

Then came an update on prominent midfielder John McGinn.

McGinn was too forced to leave the action against Everton prematurely, albeit late in the first half, after taking a blow to the head.

And Dean Smith has since confirmed fears that the Scottish international suffered a concussion from a second collision on Saturday night:
