Nuno provides Lucas & Bergwijn updates following Rennes draw

Spurs boss Nuno provides troubling updates on Bergwijn and Lucas following Rennes deadlock

Tottenham Hotspur manager Nuno Espirito Santo has provided a brief update on the well-being of Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura, who were forced to withdraw at the club’s meeting with Stade Rennais.

Højbjerg secures a point

Nuno and company started their campaign in the Europa Conference League a short time ago.

In their first outing from Group G, the Lilywhites traveled to northwestern France to meet Rennes in Ligue 1.

In turn, a fully entertaining 90 minutes unfolded, eventually culminating in loot being shared in Roazhon Park.

It was Spurs who opened the scoring for the night, when Loic Bade deflected Lucas Moura’s shot home in the face of the goal, only for the hosts to turn the game around thanks to goals from Flavien Tait and Gaetan Laborde. on both sides of the interval. :

Tottenham, however, finally did enough to earn a hard-earned point, thanks to a brilliant finish from substitute Pierre-Emile Højbjerg:

‘Really painful …’

An otherwise solid result for North Londoners in France, however, it was soured by a couple of hits to the front of the staff.

Both came in the third attack, with Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura forced to withdraw in the first and second half respectively, due to strong challenges.

In turn, with his team facing a daunting reunion with European champion Chelsea this weekend, Nuno Espirito Santo was inevitably asked for an update on the couple’s well-being, after the game.

And the news was not exactly encouraging from a Spurs point of view, as the club boss admitted that it is ‘too early’ to say whether Bergwijn or Lucas will be available to perform on Sunday:
