Newcastle landed a blow as Callum Wilson ruled out the Leeds clash

Newcastle’s bad start

Both Newcastle and Leeds United are off to a terrible start to the Premier League season. Without a win between them, Newcastle have just one point, while Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds sit at two, following draws with Everton and, more recently, Burnley.

This gives Friday’s clash between the pair even more meaning, with both sides desperate for the much-needed three points to start their season off right. Newcastle will be boosted by the central defense crisis facing Leeds, but it is not injury free.

Wilson ruled out but two players fit

The Magpies have taken a major hit on the staff front, as it emerged that forward Callum Wilson will miss Friday’s clash with Leeds United. Steve Bruce revealed that the forward suffered an injury setback just before he was ready to get back in shape.

However, he suggested that it would not be a long-term setback, saying that:

“It’s a matter of time and, unfortunately, Friday comes too fast for him.”

However, on a more positive note, Javier Manquillo and Joe Willock have recovered from the blows they received in the loss to Manchester United last weekend, and should be in a position to start against Leeds.

Can Newcastle score the three necessary points on Friday?
