Arsenal provides information on Aaron Ramsdale-Bernd Leno fight

Leno fell for the Norwich win

German goalkeeper Bernd Leno was forced to watch from the substitute bench as Arsenal claimed their first win of the season against Norwich at the Emirates Stadium.

Instead, summer signing Aaron Ramsdale received his Premier League debut for the Gunners, and he walked away with a clean sheet after having had little to do. Yet he impressed with his footwork, a department in which Leno has been notoriously mediocre.

With three games in ten days for the gunners, both are expected to have a shot on goal, but who will be Arteta’s main man?

Who will start moving forward?

Talking before his side’s clash with BurnleyHowever, Arteta refused to be called on who would be his number one in the future.

When asked about the couple, he said:

We want them to improve each other. We are trying to bring in players who can raise the level of the position, the level of the team, the exit of the club. Bernd should be disappointed and should support his teammates like everyone has done him. That is exactly what it has done.

However, he was quick to debunk rumors that Leno had reacted badly to being thrown aside, saying:

“No, that’s not true. He might get frustrated, but he was on top with his teammates. That’s not true.”

He also debunked Christian Falk’s reports that Leno had been promised a start in the North London derby within ten days as a result of his anger at being eliminated in the first place.

Arteta joked that:

“I don’t know where they are [the reports] they come from but they are ahead of me. I think I am the one who chooses the team for the weekend. I have not made a decision on my team for Saturday or for the North London Derby. “
