When Bernd Leno is expected to start over for Arsenal revealed

When Bernd Leno is expected to start over for Arsenal, revealed after Arteta's 'promise'

Arsenal beat Norwich

Arsenal were in action in the Premier League on Saturday, meeting Norwich in a must-win match.

Mikel Arteta would head into the tie with heavy pressure on him after he failed to guide Arsenal to a single point in their first three games of the season.

Of course, the North Londoners had a pretty tough streak of matches that has already seen them take on Chelsea and Manchester City, two of this season’s title favorites.

Arsenal have also had their fair share of injuries and issues to deal with lately.

However, with key players like Ben White and Gabriel able to return to the side against Norwich, a win was expected, especially as Norwich had also failed to score a single PL point this season before Saturday.

And fortunately for Arsenal, they were able to overtake the Canaries, earning a 1-0 victory.

Is Leno still Arsenal’s number 1?

Saturday’s draw was also Arsenal’s first clean sheet of the season in the league and second overall after achieving a League Cup shutout against West Brom.

Both times, new signing Aaron Ramsdale was between the sticks over Bernd Leno.

After Arsenal’s win over Norwich, fans can now expect Ramsdale to usurp Leno as their No. 1, especially since the German’s form has been quite spotty over the last year and a bit.

However, a recent report by Bild ‘Christian Falk suggests that this is not the case.

According to Falk, Mikel Arteta promised Leno that he would have a break for two games, which means he should start again in goal against Tottenham later this month.

And with Spurs a much bigger clash than Norwich or Burnley (Arsenal’s next game) seems to suggest that the Spaniard still sees Leno as his No. 1 and just wanted to give Ramsdale a short break / give Ramsdale a few minutes.
