Jurgen Klopp provides a promising update on Divock Origi

Jurgen Klopp provides up-to-date information on the severity of Liverpool's Divock Origi injury

Liverpool beat AC Milan on matchday one

For two clubs with so much history in the competition, that these two will meet at Anfield for the first time in the Champions League. As with the previous two encounters, the game turned out to be a classic as Liverpool dominated the game but found themselves down 2-1 at halftime after a quick double from the visitors.

However, Liverpool bounced back, with Mo Salah scoring a draw just minutes into the second half. Things got even better for the Reds as Jordan Henderson conjured up images of Steven Gerrard with a shot from the edge of the box into the bottom corner.

This victory means Liverpool take an early lead in a group that includes Milan, Porto and Atlético de Madrid, with the latter two drawing 0-0.

However, the meeting apparently soured a bit when forward Divock Origi was forced to leave the field at the hour mark, being replaced by Sadio Mane and leaving Liverpool fans fearing the worst.

Klopp Provides Encouraging Origi Update

Fortunately for Reds fans, Klopp has provided an encouraging update on the Belgian forward after the historic victory.

Speaking to the media after the game, the Liverpool manager said:

“He wasn’t injured, just a cramp, that’s normal.”

However, he was happy with the contribution Origi made while on the field, revealing that:

“Nothing really special [in training], he’s a great guy. He will be seen as a legend when he leaves. He could have left in the summer, but football is a crazy place and people forgot how good it is. We have to decide the positions. He did nothing wrong. “

With Mo Salah and Sadio Mane set to depart for the African Cup of Nations in January, Origi will have to be in top form to take the Liverpool title.
