Harvey Elliott disagrees with the decision to keep Pascal Struijk’s red card

Liverpool's Harvey Elliott disagrees with the decision to keep Leeds defender Pascal Struijk's red card for challenging him

Harvey Elliott took to social media Wednesday morning to disagree with the decision to ban Leeds defender Pascal Struijk for three games.

Pascal Struijk’s ban upheld

Leeds defender Pascal Struijk would injure Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott on Sunday.

The tackle itself did not look malicious and play would continue until Mohamed Salah noticed that Elliott was in great pain.

He was then taken out on a stretcher and has since undergone surgery on his left ankle. Liverpool confirmed Tuesday night Elliott underwent successful ankle surgery.

It was added that Elliott will begin a rehab program with the Reds medical team and, although he is expected to return to action later this season, Liverpool have not set a schedule for his return.

In the wake of the challenge, Struijk was shown a direct red card, which seemed like a bit of an odd decision at the time – as mentioned above, the referee didn’t even stop play until it became clear that Elliott was seriously injured.

Leeds has since appealed the ban, but on Wednesday morning it emerged that it should be maintained:

Now, as mentioned above, Elliott has ruled on the decision to keep the three-game ban on Struijk.

Sky Sports posted about the ban on Instagram, prompting Harvey Elliott to comment on the following:

Sorry about this Pascal, I think it’s wrong! But soon it will bypass bro and you’ll be back in no time breaking it up again, keep a positive attitude.
