“Some clubs start to get closer” to Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka as the Englishman starts to draw attention

LONDON, ENGLAND - DECEMBER 26: Arsenal's Bukayo Saka celebrates after scoring his team's third goal during the Premier League match between Arsenal and Chelsea at Emirates Stadium on December 26, 2020 in London, England. The bright light of Arsenal

In what has been a lousy 18 months for Arsenal fans, Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe have emerged as two pillars of hope from their academy. While Smith Rowe remains one for the future, Bukayo Saka is already one of the best youngsters in world football and signed a new contract with the Gunners last summer.

Still just 20 years old, Saka has already racked up 93 appearances for the Gunners, and has provided 12 goals and 21 assists in this time. His high levels of performance in all positions, in multiple positions, led him to Euro 2020 as part of Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad, where he found himself making a splash on the side.

Four appearances for Saka followed, including a substitute appearance against Italy, where he unfortunately missed the decisive penalty in the final penalty shootout.

Now focused on a new season with the Gunners, Saka hopes to put that flaw behind him and continue his development to become one of the best players in Europe.

Clubs sniff around Saka

However, a big hurdle for Gunners fans is that the youngster only has two years left on his contract next summer. As mentioned above, he signed a new contract in 2020, but this was only for four years, and this could still be problematic.

According to the trusted Fabrizio Romano, on the HereWeGo podcast:

“Some clubs are starting to approach Bukayo Saka, as one of the best players in his position for the future.”

However, he went on to reveal that:

“Arsenal consider him untouchable … they are planning to build on players like Bukayo Saka”

If Saka maintains his good performances, Arsenal fans will be increasingly anxious about his contract situation this season, as the club has been stung by players in the final years of his contract in the past. As a result, there will be pressure for the situation to be resolved before it reaches this point.

What will happen to Saka?
