Man United boss Solskjaer gives Edinson Cavani a fitness update

Manchester United manager Edinson Cavani provided an update on the fitness of key forward Edinson Cavani on Monday night.

Magpies struck

Solskjaer and company. of course, they were back in action last weekend.

In the club’s first outing at the back of the international break, United hosted Newcastle at Old Trafford, for a Premier League showdown.

The showdown marked a noteworthy one for many reasons, as the hosts knew before kick-off that a win would take them to the top of the English top flight.

However, the main topic of conversation surrounding the action in Manchester was Cristiano Ronaldo’s comeback.

After sealing a surprising return to the Juventus Theater of Dreams at the end of the transfer window, CR7 received his second debut with the club on Saturday, in a central attacking role.

And the Portuguese, as a trademark, went on to steal the show, scoring a double en route to an eventual 4-1 victory.

However, Ronaldo was not the only one of United’s attackers to draw attention on Saturday afternoon.

Edinson Cavani, who had not set foot on the field so far in 2021/22 after a late return from his summer break, was expected, at the very least, to take his place on the bench against Newcastle.

His later omission in the day, therefore, was quite a surprise.

Speaking before the start of the action, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was inevitably drawn to the whereabouts of his veteran hitman, and went on to to reveal that he was “not ready yet”, after taking “a little hit” in training during the week.
