Leeds pair sends messages to Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott

Leeds pair messages Harvey Elliott as Liverpool star absolves Pascal Struijk of guilt

Two members of Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United team have taken to social media over the past 24 hours to send well wishes messages to Liverpool star Harvey Elliott.

The reds struck

The name of midfielder Elliott, of course, took center stage in the English media on Sunday night.

However, unfortunately for both Liverpool and the 18-year-old, this came for all the wrong reasons.

Jurgen Klopp and company. made the trip to Elland Road for a Premier League showdown with Leeds, seeking a spot alongside Manchester United and Chelsea at the top of the Premier League.

And, when all was said and done in West Yorkshire, this is precisely what the Reds accomplished, courtesy of a well-deserved 3-0 victory.

However, putting a major brake on a good day at work for Liverpool was a serious injury suffered by the aforementioned Elliott.

After what appeared on the first viewing as a rather innocuous challenge from Leeds’s Pascal Struijk in the middle of the park, it quickly became clear that Elliott had fared worse.

In turn, after a prolonged interruption in play, midfield talent was finally removed from the court, amid deep concern from players, fans and coaching staff alike.

It has since been confirmed that Elliott is scheduled to undergo surgery, having suffered an ankle dislocation on Elland Road:

‘The thoughts are with you’

Elliott himself has accepted to be ‘overwhelmed’ by the messages of support sent in his direction by the fans, in the 24 hours since the incident on Sunday.

And, as described above, two people who have since joined the onslaught of well wishes come in the form of a pair of Leeds stars.

First up was Struijk, the man involved of course in the challenge that ultimately caused the Liverpool player’s injury.

Taking Instagram, the versatile plug confirmed that his ‘thoughts are with’ Elliott, having ‘never intended’ to cause any harm to the promising talent:

And after Struijk was his Peacocks teammate Junior Firpo, who was seen doing his best to comfort the injured 18-year-old as he lay on the ground Sunday night:

Significantly when it comes to the former, Elliott has sent a message of his own on social media, completely absolve the undoubtedly devastated Struijk of any fault, after the Dutchman was attacked by members of the Liverpool fanbase for his actions:

It wasn’t his [Pascal Struijk] blame whatever.

“ It wasn’t a red card either, just a freak accident, but these things happen in football. I will come back stronger 100%. Thanks for all the support.’
