Guardiola’s latest update from Kevin de Bruyne ahead of Man City vs Leipzig

The latest update from Pep Guardiola's Kevin de Bruyne ahead of Man City vs RB Leipzig

Man City vs RB Leipzig

Manchester City, of course, would reach their first Champions League final last season, before finally losing to Chelsea.

However, the Citizens will have at least one more shot at European glory with Pep Guardiola this season, and they have been selected from a rather difficult group.

The Manchester powerhouse will begin their Champions League adventure on Wednesday, taking on German team RB Leipzig at the Etihad.

However, fortunately for City, Leipzig are not at the level we have seen them in previous seasons.

Julian Nagelsmann has left the club for Bayern Munich and would take key midfielder Marcel Sabitzer and Dayot Upamecano with him.

On the other hand, Ibrahima Konate has left the club for Liverpool, leaving Leipzig on a much weaker side than they ended in 2020/21.

This has been reflected in their results so far this season, which has seen them win one and lose three in the league.

Guardiola on De Bruyne

Now ahead of Wednesday’s clash, Pep Guardiola has provided another update on Kevin De Bruyne.

The Belgian has been recovering from injury and came to the bench against Leicester over the weekend, although he played no role.

Now, ahead of Leipzig, Guardiola has said this about his star midfielder:

“We’ll see. He did a really good training session this week.

“When he returned to training, he did very well. Step by Step. We have a deep team, just to see that Phil (Foden) was there, Kevin was there, Riyad (Mahrez) was there, John (Stones) was there.

“The last two games against Norwich and Arsenal were incredible. They were at an incredibly high level and deserved to play.

“The guys who didn’t play today have to be prepared. The quality of the team is so high and that is the only reason we were successful in the previous seasons, everyone contributed ”.
