FPL fans take note: what Solskjaer said about Cristiano Ronaldo and Mason Greenwood’s handling of the minutes

FPL fans take note: what Solskjaer said about Cristiano Ronaldo and Mason Greenwood's handling of the minutes

Ronaldo returns

Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester United for the summer and would make his second debut against Newcastle on Saturday.

The Portuguese was pushed straight into the Red Devils starting lineup, playing alongside Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood on a front of three.

And it wouldn’t take CR7 long to score their first goal at Old Trafford, putting Man United in the lead in first-half injury time.

Javier Manquillo would then equalize Newcastle in the 56th minute. However, Ronaldo then added a second shortly after the hour mark, with Bruno Fernandes and Jesse Lingard adding some sparkle to the scoreboard later on.

Solskjaer on the management of Ronaldo and Greenwood

That return was fantastic news for those Fantasy Premier League players who decided to pitch Ronaldo straight into their lineup and even better for those who chose to captain him.

Ronaldo’s price is now likely to rise as the train begins to gain momentum. And, after scoring two on his debut, many are likely to expect CR7 to play the majority of games for United this season, similar to how Bruno Fernandes has been used since his arrival.

However, recent comments from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suggest that this may not be the case.

The Norwegian warned that it is not impossible to leave Ronaldo out and you have to manage his minutes, as well as those of Mason Greenwood, who is another of the FPL favorites today:

β€œIt is not impossible to leave it out.

“He is 36 years old. Mason [Greenwood] He’s 19, so it’s the same, I have to manage his minutes and I also have to manage the minutes of a 36-year-old player.

β€œThe other thing with Cristiano is that he takes care of himself so much that I know he will recover quickly. Of course, it’s important for everyone to get going and for him to get going. “
