Ben White beat a Luiz tally for the entire 2020/21 vs Norwich

Also, Arsenal’s summer, Ben White’s ball skills were highlighted with an impressive statistic in the aftermath of the club’s encounter with Norwich City.

Auba on target

Mikel Arteta’s men were back in action last weekend.

In the club’s first outing at the back of the international break, the Gunners welcomed Norwich to the Emirates, for a bottom-of-the-table clash.

Arsenal went through the process knowing that no more than three points would be enough, after slipping to a trio of losses in their first three outings of the season.

And when all was said and done in North London, clinching the club’s first win of the season on the board is precisely what the hosts simply accomplished.

A hard-fought affair, during which it sometimes seemed that Arsenal would never get a first game, finally saw the game’s revealing moment arrive at 20 minutes into the second half.

After a remarkable sequence of events in which Nicolas Pepe hit not one but both posts, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was on hand to score Arsenal’s first goal of the Premier League campaign, sealing victory in the process:

Awesome white

Meanwhile, in the wake of Arsenal’s long-awaited first win of the season, several of Mikel Arteta’s stars have since received praise.

The likes of Gabriel Magalhaes and Sambi Lokonga impressed deeply against Norwich, and Takehiro Tomiyasu also enjoyed an impressive debut outing.

However, as noted above, he is indeed one of those who have already received considerable criticism this season, whose statistical output on Saturday has started to draw attention.

The player in question? Ben White.

On the back of an utterly disappointing bow to Arsenal’s colors against Brentford in the season opener, the summery big buck arrival White was used early on once again against Norwich, after recovering from a Covid-19 bout.

And while White’s defensive stats weren’t particularly noteworthy, his efforts on the ball were hugely encouraging.

This comes with the former Brighton standout who managed to complete no fewer than three key passes over the course of 90 minutes against Norwich.

By comparison, David Luiz, whom White has essentially replaced on Mikel Arteta’s baseline as a deep start to get the attacks going, managed just two in the Premier League for the entirety of last season.
