Two Premier League bosses emerge as potential Arsenal head coach candidates if they decide to leave Mikel Arteta

Two Premier League bosses emerge as potential Arsenal head coach candidates if they decide to leave Mikel Arteta

The beginning of Arsenal’s nightmare

Arsenal’s 2021/22 Premier League campaign is off to an absolute nightmare start.

The Gunners would start their season against the newly promoted Brentford, who had never played a game in the Premier League before.

However, the Bees were able to take advantage of a poor defense from Arsenal, especially from Ben White and Pablo Mari, to win 2-0.

The Gunners followed this up by losing 2-0 to Chelsea in the league, although that game could have easily ended with Thomas Tuchel’s men scoring four or five.

And this is exactly what Manchester City achieved in Arsenal’s last outing before the international break, beating five of the North Londoners, who are now officially enduring their worst start to a top flight campaign since 1954/55.

Premier League bosses emerge as potential Arteta replacement

Such a poor start to the campaign has already put Mikel Arteta’s future in the Emirates into question, with reports in late August, having suggested that the capital’s team is likely to make Antonio Conte their first-choice target to replace the Spaniard.

Now, however, it appears that the top brass of the Emirates are also looking for more local talent.

According to TEAMtalk, Graham Potter and Thomas Frank are emerging as potential Arsenal head coach candidates if and when they decide to leave Arteta.

Both coaches are quite offensive-minded and well versed in 3-defense training, which would apparently suit the current Arsenal squad.

Ben White, of course, has played his best football in a three with Brighton, Kieran Tierney and Ainsley Maitland-Niles look solid in a back-five and new signing Takehiro Tomiyasu would probably do well as a right central in a three.

Marseille loan officer William Saliba is also impressing in a back-three while on loan in France.
