Thomas Tuchel outlines plans for Saul's future at Chelsea

Chelsea gets Saul on deadline day

Chelsea took until the deadline to secure their sought-after midfield reinforcements as they announced a loan move for Atlético de Madrid outcast Saul Niguez for the 2021/22 season.

At one point, the deal seemed on the verge of collapsing, with paperwork only being handed over with minutes to go, but in the end Thomas Tuchel got his man and added the experienced 26-year-old to his already star-studded squad.

Indeed, Saul is in line for a possible Chelsea debut this weekend as the Blues take on Aston Villa as N’golo Kante is out with injury and both Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic were involved in matches. internationals with Italy and Croatia, respectively.

Meanwhile, Saúl was not called up by Spain, leaving him free to train in West London with his new team.

Tuchel talks about permanent move

Part of the loan movement to bring Saúl from the capital of Spain to England was the agreement of an option to make the movement permanent at the end of the campaign. According to the trustworthy Matt Law, this figure is around 30 million pounds.

And, speaking in the face of the clash with Villa, Tuchel spoke about the possibility of making the move permanent:

“We have the opportunity, which is good, and now it depends on us and the player, and we can get to know each other in detail and see if it fits well.”

He also revealed that Saul had been tracked by both him and the club for several years, and that he had been close to signing him to other clubs:

“Saul has been on Chelsea’s radar for many years. I have known the player for many years and I fought in other clubs for him, but it was not possible.
