Ronaldo rejoins Manchester United

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you already know that Manchester United have signed Cristiano Ronaldo once again, 12 years after his last stint at Old Trafford.

His signing has already proven to be a huge success for the Manchester United brand, with sales of the “Ronaldo 7” jersey reaching £ 188 million, paid for the transfer fee alone.

Can Ronaldo, often his club’s hero, bring success to Manchester after four long years without a trophy?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was coy about the prospect of the Portuguese international starting tomorrow against Newcastle, but promised that he would show up in some form, saying:

“He will definitely be on the field at some point, that’s for sure.”

The chances of getting started increase

Those hoping to see Ronaldo from the start tomorrow afternoon against Newcastle got a huge boost tonight when the roaming squad was confirmed. Not only did CR7 (unsurprisingly) make the cut, there was a surprise omission in the hitting department.

This came in the form of Edinson Cavani, who did not join the team tonight, which in turn increased the chances of Ronaldo having a second debut from the start tomorrow.

It’s not a foregone conclusion, with Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial traveling with the team, as well as young forward Anthony Elanga. However, the omission of star forward Cavani certainly hasn’t hurt his chances.

On the other hand, Donny Van de Beek could also appear, since both Scott McTominay and Fred are not included in the team.

However, Ronaldo will, of course, take center stage.
