Nelson advises Arsenal fans to ‘remember the name’ of Charlie Patiño

Amid suggestions of impending Arsenal debut, Reiss Nelson targets Gunners' 'greatest talent of all time', Patiño, for stardom

Arsenal loan man Reiss Nelson has urged fans to ‘remember the name’ of up-and-coming Gunners talent Charlie Patino.

‘The best I’ve seen’

The 17-year-old Patiño is currently making his way through Arsenal’s youth ranks.

The star is a midfielder by profession, with a wide range of outstanding technical attributes.

After starting to attract attention with the Gunners Under-18s last season, Patiño, despite his tender years, was subsequently called up to be part of the club’s Under-23s, in Premier League 2.

And the months since then have only seen the English go from strength to strength, amid suggestions that Patiño is not just one of, but THE most promising talent plying his trade in the red half of North London.

This is certainly an opinion shared by the man who proved to be the decisive voice in luring the teenager to the capital early in his fledgling career, with Gunners scout Brian Stapleton who recently provided insight into Patiño’s talents:

“Of all the years I’ve been exploring, he’s the best boy I’ve ever seen.”

‘I got a tip about Charlie from a guy, so I went there and couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I was 11 years old and I think I was playing in the U-13, and I was like ‘wow’.

His first touch was incredible, his vision, his awareness of space. He was way above his years, he was on another planet to anyone else in the field. ‘

I made a phone call to my department head at Arsenal at the time, Sean O’Connor. He asked me what I thought and I said: ‘well, I’m not going back. I don’t need to see more, you have to sign this guy right away. ‘

Nelson Seal of Approval

These talents have seen suggestions begin to spread in the media that the 17-year-old Patiño could be taken into consideration by Mikel Arteta to participate in Arsenal’s EFL Cup meeting with AFC Wimbledon in late this month.

This comes with the young man who continued to light up the Hale End scene for the first few weeks of the new season:

And, as described above, this week, one of the high-profile Gunners youth products that has finally come up short in its efforts to secure a regular first-team spot at the Emirates has also given its endorsement to Patiño.

Taking to Instagram in response to a post from the midfielder himself, Reiss Nelson, currently on loan to the Eredivisie with Feyenoord, revealed a simple three-word answer:
