Cristiano Ronaldo talks about plans for the clash against Newcastle

FPL bosses take note: Cristiano Ronaldo talks about plans for Newcastle clash

Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo spoke out on Thursday night, ahead of his imminent second debut for the club.

CR7 is back

The main news at Old Trafford over the past fortnight has of course come in the form of Ronaldo’s remarkable comeback.

After a 12-year stint away from the club, United, learning of the Portuguese’s enthusiasm for leaving the Italian giants Juventus, showed little hesitation in plummeting to bring their prodigal son back to England.

Ronaldo’s return, in turn, was announced on August 27.

However, since the 36-year-old immediately left for international service, his arrival in Manchester actually only came at the end of last week.

After a period of self-isolation under UK government Covid-19 rules, CR7 subsequently joined the rest of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team last Tuesday.

And now, two days later, Ronaldo has officially put pen on paper on terms with United:

‘Ready to go!’

Attention will inevitably now turn quickly to the veteran attacker’s impact on the field.

Despite long entering the final years of his career, Ronaldo remains a prolific scorer, a trait that will undoubtedly be crucial to the Red Devils’ fortunes over the course of the coming season.

And, if the latest comments from the Portuguese himself are something to follow, then Solskjaer and company. You could still benefit from such talents not only from the bank, but also early this weekend.

Speaking after committing to the terms of his deal with the club, Ronaldo was drawn to his hopes for United’s meeting with Newcastle on Saturday.

And, after admitting that he expects the nerves to flow before kick-off, the former Real Madrid player was not shy about confirming (cheerfully) that he fully intends to push for a starting spot:

“Of course I will be nervous on Saturday, but I am more mature, I have more experience, I will be prepared and I will pressure Ole now to start in XI.” [laughs]. I’m ready to go!’
