Mikel Arteta adds two players to the Arsenal first team ahead of Norwich

Arsenal vs Norwich

To say that Arsenal’s 2021/22 Premier League campaign has gotten off to a nightmare start would be to take it lightly.

The Gunners, unless they win the League Cup over a very weak West Brom team, have yet to get a win this season.

After a fairly active summer window, Arsenal fans were certainly hopeful that Mikel Arteta could start his league season off to a solid start as they look to improve on two previous finishes.

However, so far, the Spaniard has done the opposite. Arsenal would begin their season with a 2-0 loss to newly promoted Brentford on the opening day of the campaign.

They were then completely dominated by both Chelsea and Manchester City, losing 2-0 and 5-0 to put them last in the PL table heading into the current international break.

After such a lousy start, it is imperative that Arsenal get something out of their next league clash this weekend.

The North Londoners will face Norwich City at the Emirates, which is one of three teams that have yet to earn a point this season, with Arsenal and Wolves being the other two.

The match will take place at 3pm UK time on Saturday 11th

Arsenal add a duo to training

Now, ahead of Saturday’s clash, Mikel Arteta has added two academy stars to the first team squad.

According to him Mirror, the Spaniard has welcomed James Olayinka and Tim Akinola to the first team squad ahead of their crucial clash against Norwich.

Both players are 20 years old and have yet to make their senior debut at Arsenal.

Both are also central midfielders by trade, which may explain their inclusion.

Granit Xhaka will be out against Norwich after being sent off against Manchester City last time, while Thomas Partey has only been stained Back to training after injuring Chelsea in preseason.

And if Partey is not fit enough for the Norwich game, this would leave only Mohamed Elneny and Albert Sambi Lokonga as natural central midfielders for Arsenal, making the inclusion of Olayinka and Akinola in the first team a wise one. Arteta’s decision.
