Álvaro Fernández joins the Man United first team

Manchester United star Álvaro Fernández has taken to social media to celebrate his place in the club’s senior setup for the first time.

CR7 is back

The main news on Manchester’s red half on Tuesday, of course, came in the form of the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese, after a 12-year stint out of the club, rejoined United late last month, leaving Italian giants Juventus for Old Trafford.

In turn, after a period of 5 days in isolation, Ronaldo connected with his new teammates for the first time just over 24 hours ago.

Arriving in Carrington for the first time in over a decade, CR7 was all smiles as he took his place alongside others like his summer partner, Jadon Sancho, and compatriot Diogo Dalot:

‘Learning’

However, as described above, it was the presence of another of those featured in training photographs posted on the Red Devils’ social media platforms that, in fact, caught the attention of many others.

The player in question? Álvaro Fernández.

Fernández, 18, moved to Manchester last summer, after allowing his contract with Real Madrid to expire.

And the Spaniard, in the 12 months since then, has evidently impressed those in a position of power at the club.

After being quickly promoted from United’s under-18 configuration to his team of 23 last season, the stopper went on to rack up 25 appearances for Neil Wood’s side.

However, it is the first weeks of the new campaign that seem to have caught the attention of none other than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

After scoring two goals and an assist from the left back in his first three Premier League 2 outings of 2021/22, Fernandez was introduced to the Red Devils first-team setup for the first time on Tuesday.

And the young man was understandably eager to celebrate the achievement on social media, taking to Instagram to post a photo of himself and Cristiano Ronaldo, accompanied by the caption:

‘Special moments. Learning’
