'I wasn't happy at the club': Willian opens up about Arsenal leaving for the first time

Recently retired Arsenal player Willian on Monday provided insight into the motivation behind his decision to move forward.

Corinthians change

Brazilian international Willian’s name, of course, took center stage in the red half of North London ahead of last week’s transfer deadline.

This came with the 33-year-old on the back of an unsuccessful opening to the new campaign, having received many suggestions to move on.

Willian originally partnered with Arsenal in the summer of 2020, putting a 3-year contract in writing after leaving London rivals Chelsea as a free agent.

However, to say that his passage through the Emirates subsequently turned out to be a disappointment would be to take it lightly.

And, with just a few hours left in the summer window, Edu and company. handled just that.

In true testament to his character, Willian agreed to terminate the remainder of his contract with Arsenal, leaving a rumored £ 20 million on the table in the process:

‘The weather was not good’

Speaking in an interview with Sports gazette After sealing a return to the childhood club Corinthians, Willian was not shy about admitting that his time at Arsenal “ was not good ”, and that the return to his home country emerged as the best option for him and the your family members alike:

‘Unfortunately my time at Arsenal was not good, I was not happy at the club. I don’t need to go into details, but I was not happy and I thought that returning to Brazil was the best option. ”

He continued:

‘I studied some other opportunities, but I wanted to go back to Corinthians, to my home, to be close to my family members. It is the club that projected me to the world. The right time to go back was this. ‘
