Man United confirms McTominay & Telles advance ahead of Newcastle

Man United confirm the return of a pair of injuries before Newcastle

Manchester United confirmed a double push on the personal front on Monday night, ahead of the club’s meeting with Newcastle.

Reds in song

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men, of course, are fresh off a solid opening to the new campaign.

In the midst of a productive summer, in which Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and surprisingly Cristiano Ronaldo headed to Old Trafford, the Red Devils racked up seven points out of nine available in the Premier League.

First it was a thoroughly impressive beating from Leeds United, before a single setback in the form of a 1-1 draw with Southampton.

Then, last time out, United got back on the winning track, avoiding the efforts of an energetic Wolves team to finally emerge on the right side from a 1-0 scoreline.

McTominay on the road to recovery

Solskjaer’s men, in turn, will undoubtedly be confident in their chances of keeping the club’s positive streak alive earlier in the season this weekend.

The Reds are set to host Steve Bruce’s Newcastle in Manchester, for a Premier League showdown on Saturday afternoon.

The main focus before the clash, understandably, has been the availability of Cristiano Ronaldo, with the Portuguese, on the back of his return to Old Trafford last weekend, potentially in line for a second United debut against the Magpies.

On Monday, however, the names of two other people took center stage in the conversation in Carrington.

The players in question? Alex Telles and Scott McTominay.

On social media tonight, United revealed photos of both players at first team practice ahead of their return to action after this weekend’s international break:

Meanwhile, a later announcement on the club’s official website provided a more detailed look at the situation:

Alex Telles has been out since injuring his ankle in the preseason after appearing in a friendly win over Derby County in July.

However, the Brazilian international has come a long way in his rehabilitation and was seen by our photographers in Carrington in a very positive mood.

Regarding McTominay, it is added that:

Another player featured in our exclusive shots is Scott McTominay, despite the fact that he recently underwent groin surgery.

The midfielder missed the win at Wolves as a result of surgery, but promised to return sooner than fans would think and it was another huge advantage to see him on the pitch as the team prepares for Saturday’s visit to Newcastle United.
