Boost for Spurs like Romero and Lo Celso launched by Argentina

The fined games to the Tottenham duo are expected to miss after leaving the Argentina camp to join Sánchez in Croatia.

A major update on the ridiculous situation of Tottenham Hotspur’s Argentine internationals was announced Monday night.

PL stars in the heart of South American chaos

Lionel Scaloni’s Argentine squad, of course, took center stage in the media just over 24 hours ago.

This came with the return of Albiceleste to the field, for a highly anticipated World Cup qualifying showdown with archrival Brazil.

The clash marked not only a CONCACAF showdown at the top of the table, but also a rematch of the Copa América final just a few months ago, which ultimately culminated with Argentina emerging victorious.

Yet within minutes of the action in Sao Paulo on Sunday, chaos reigned.

Amid almost unfathomable scenes, the clash came to a halt, after several representatives of ANVISA, Brazil’s national health surveillance agency, made their way to the stadium and onto the field.

The individuals in question arrived in an effort to get everyone of Giovani Lo Celso, Cristian Romero, Emiliano Martínez and Emiliano Buendia, the former trio of whom was on the field, out of the stadium.

This came after the Premier League quartet reportedly provided false information about their previous whereabouts upon entering Brazil.

It is understood that the entire Spurs duo, Lo Celso & Romero, and Aston stars Villa Martínez and Buendía, lied about being present in the UK within two weeks of their arrival in Brazil.

This comes with the UK currently on the country’s red list for travel, which means that under normal circumstances a two-week period of self-isolation should have applied.

ANVISA’s intervention finally culminated in the abandonment of Sunday’s clash, as the Argentine squad quickly fled Brazilian soil in search of the comforts of home.

Spurs star throw

However, the consequences of last night’s events in Sao Paulo appear to be far from over.

First, early today, word It was reported that, upon their return to North London, both Romero and Lo Celso, along with their Colombian teammate Davinson Sánchez, will be fined by the Tottenham hierarchy.

This comes with the trio who, in fact, have not received permission to accept their respective international calls.

Sánchez, for his part, after lining up for Colombia’s meeting with Paraguay on Sunday, received an early release from his country, and rushed to Croatia to participate in a 10-day individualized training program.

And the same happened with Aston Villa’s couple, Martínez and Buendía, who were released by the Argentine Football Association before the nation’s meeting with Bolivia on Friday.

Traveling to Croatia means that the South American trio will now avoid a forced period of self-isolation on their respective returns to the UK.

Thus, it no doubt came up as a major concern to everyone associated with the Spurs that, as of tonight, the Lo Celso and Romero situations had not been reported.

However, as described above, a decisive update recently arrived.

This came in the form of another announcement from the Albiceleste, this time confirming that their Lilywhites representatives have indeed received permission to depart.

Both, in turn, will now link with Sánchez in Croatia.

In an added boost for Nuno Espirito Santo and the Spurs, the trusty Charlie Eccleshare has revealed that Lo Celso and Romero will now likely miss just one solo match for the club, next weekend against Crystal Palace.

Both are expected to return to the first-team configuration the following Sunday, when Tottenham host rivals from the capital Chelsea.
