Arsenal delivered fitness boosts to Partey and Nketiah ahead of Norwich

Arsenal gave a timely double boost to their fitness before Norwich

On Monday, Premier League giants Arsenal received a much-needed double boost on the personal front.

Gunners fighting

The first weeks of the new campaign, of course, have proven disastrous in the red half of North London.

Despite having splashed considerably over the summer, Arteta’s men have so far failed to rack up a single Premier League point, at the back of a trio of matches.

First it was a 2-0 loss at the hands of newly promoted Brentford, before a similar result was obtained in a home match with capital rivals Chelsea.

And finally, last weekend, it was a frankly embarrassing 5-0 beating at the hands of champion Manchester City.

While such a series of results to open the campaign is, of course, inexcusable at any level, it should be noted that Arteta, in his defense, has already been forced to deal with a whole host of personnel issues.

Through a combination of injuries and Covid-19, players like Ben White, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Thomas Partey and Gabriel Magalhaes have been forced out of key matches this season.

Timely return

With the conclusion of the international break getting closer and closer, and the Gunners ready to return to action this weekend, although, at last, some positive news has been received at the club.

This comes in the form of a double push on the fitness front that has been long awaited.

Most notable is the return of star midfielder Thomas Partey, who has yet to appear at the club this season, to first-team training.

And joining the Ghanaian on his return, according to Arsenal whistleblower Jeorge Bird, is hitman Eddie Nketiah.

Both players, in turn, could well be in line to celebrate their seasonal lounges on Saturday, when Mikel Arteta’s men host Norwich City in the Emirates, for a clash from the bottom of the Premier League table.
