Phil Foden offered a new long-term contract with Man City

Phil Foden offered a new long-term contract with Man City

Foden’s Man City season

The 2020/21 season saw Phil Foden really consolidate himself on the world stage.

The 20-year-old has always possessed obvious talent, but it wasn’t until this past season that Pep Guardiola began giving Foden consistent starts on the bigger stage.

Now, however, the versatile midfielder has established himself as an absolutely essential cog in Guardiola’s attack, having, towards the end of 2020/21, taken Raheem Sterling’s place in the Sky Blues XI.

In total, Foden would score 16 goals and 10 assists in all competitions last season, while making some stellar displays well beyond his years against teams like Borussia Dortmund and PSG when Man City finally reached their first Champions League.

Foden has since missed the start of the current campaign due to an injury he sustained at Euro 2020. However, once again he will undoubtedly be vital to Manchester City when he returns.

Foden offered a new deal

And now, it looks like Man City is aiming to tie its new up-and-coming star into a new deal.

Foden is currently hired by Sky Blues until 2024.

Now the Daily star They report that the Englishman has been offered a new six-year contract, which would see him practice his trade at Etihad until 2027.

A six-year contract, valued at £ 150,000 a week, is on the table for the England midfielder as a reward for his excellent year of advancement with the club and the country, following Euro 2020.

If Foden put pen to paper in a new deal, it would be following the likes of Ederson, John Stones, Ruben Dias and Kevin De Bruyne signing new contracts with City this year.
