Four players Liverpool should replace Divock Origi with in January

Liverpool Attack Depth

Liverpool would have a fairly quiet summer transfer window, with Ibrahima Konate the only high-level entry at Anfield.

However, while Konate looks like a very solid buy that should only continue to get better, Liverpool fans were probably waiting a bit longer.

Harvey Elliot’s appearance, for now at least, seems to have negated the need to sign a replacement for now PSG star Georginio Wijnaldum.

But if there was one area Liverpool probably needed to improve, especially this season, it was their attacking options.

Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota are excellent options. However, outside of this foursome, Liverpool’s attacking options are rather unsatisfactory.

Divock Origi, despite his previous Champions League exploits, has shown that he is not good enough to be a regular player for a top six team, while Takumi Minamino has struggled since arriving in England.

Despite this, Liverpool are likely to be forced to wear the pair a bit in the winter months when the African Cup of Nations rolls around and Salah and Mane leave.

Jamie Carragher has already voiced his disappointment at Liverpool for not bringing in anyone better than Origi or Minamino to bolster Liverpool’s attack:

“I am disappointed that Liverpool do not have an attacker, I must say.

“I think Liverpool are short on attack and will have to keep everyone in shape, which is almost impossible really. I think they will have difficulties, but they are very robust, Liverpool’s three forwards.

“Mane and maybe Salah will go to the African Cup of Nations at some point, I’m not sure how many games they will miss, but I think it was something Liverpool should miss.

“They have Origi there and Minamino, but I basically wanted someone who was better than them to enter the club.”

Liverpool players should replace Origi

So in order not to have to wear too much of said duo when Mane and Salah are gone for around a month, Liverpool should probably be looking to add some fresh legs to their front line in January.

AFCON doesn’t start until January 9th, so the Reds have some time to bring in reinforcements before losing their key men.

And in 101We have chosen four players Liverpool should sign to replace Origi and potentially Minamino in January.

Danielo, Ajax

The first player Liverpool should look to replace Divock Origi is Ajax striker Danilo.

Danilo, 22, would be signed by Ajax in August 2017 from Brazil’s Santos for a fee believed to be around. £ 1.8 million.

Still only a teenager when he was brought to the Dutch capital, Danilo would enjoy stints in Ajax’s under-19 and under-21 teams, where he scored a good number of goals and assists.

Then, this past season, the Brazilian would be loaned out to the Eredivisie team, FC Twente.

Danilo enjoyed a solid loan assignment at De Grolsch Veste, scoring 17 goals and five assists in 33 league games.

The forward has since returned to Ajax, but has only been used sparingly so far in this period, perhaps suggesting that Ajax could be open for sale in January.

Regarding his positioning, Danilo has spent most of his career being a center forward, although he has played in either wing on occasion.

But with Diogo Jota already on Liverpool’s books, it wouldn’t be that difficult to fit both into Liverpool’s top three spots, as the Portuguese performs both on the left and at the top.

Federico Chiesa, Juventus

The next pick is perhaps someone quirky, but it’s certainly someone Liverpool should be looking at.

Federico Chiesa would be signed by Juventus from Fiorentina in October 2020.

The 23-year-old went on to enjoy a very respectable debut campaign in Turin, in which he scored 15 goals and provided 11 assists in 45 games.

Chiesa then had a starring Euro 2020, scoring two crucial goals en route to Italy winning the tournament.

The Italian is a right-back by trade, but he’s very versatile and would likely do a job in any of Liverpool’s top three spots.

However, one of the main problems with Chiesa is probably his price, with reports during the summer suggesting that Juve turned down an £ 85 million offer from Chelsea:

Adama Traore, Wolves

Regular Premier League watchers, of course, are probably very familiar with Adama Traore.

Spaniard is one of the funniest and most frustrating figures to watch in the league today.

The Spaniard would complete an astonishing 160 dribbles in the last PL period, almost double the amount of 2North Dakota place Marcus Rashford who completed 88.

Traore also topped the statistics for most players dribbled in 2020/21, beating his man in 173 occasions. Again, for comparison, 2North Dakota place Marcus Rashford managed to dribble his man 94 times last season.

And, with new boss Bruno Lage, Traore has once again looked like a real threat so far this season as well.

However, the main factor preventing Traore from becoming a true top-tier talent is, and has been since moving to England, his end product.

But Jurgen Klopp is probably one of the few coaches in the PL, as well as Pep Guardiola, whom you would support to bring out the best in Traore and help improve his final product.

The only problem is whether Liverpool would be willing to bet on the Spanish.

Antonio, Ajax

The final player Liverpool should be targeting to help replace Origi and Minamino is Antony.

The 21-year-old joined Dutch powerhouse Ajax in July 2020, departing from Sau Paulo for around £ 14 million.

Since then, Antony has lit up both the Eredivisie and the Champions League with his electrifying pace and dazzling skills.

In total, he has scored 11 and assisted 10 in 48 starts for the Dutch powerhouse.

One of Antony’s possible drawbacks is that he is very one foot, which greatly favors his left.

This isn’t necessarily a big deal for Liverpool though, as Antony is a right winger, so he shouldn’t have a problem cutting from the inside and adding goals from the flank in a similar way to Mo Salah, who isn’t quite as much either. strong on his right foot.

And in addition to providing an upgrade on Minamino and Origi now, the Brazilian could, if he continues to develop well, end up proving to be a long-term replacement for Salah.
