Timo Werner breaks goal drought, but Musiala keeps stealing the show

Video: Timo Werner breaks goal drought, but former Chelsea talent steals the show for Germany

Germany’s first goal during the country’s meeting with Liechtenstein tonight was not only scored by a Chelsea star, but also created by a former Blues talent.

Werner on target

The men of Die Mannschaft are currently in action, in the latest qualifier for the nation’s World Cup.

The clash, of course, marks something momentous for Germany, in the form of their first clash without veteran boss Jogi Low on the bench.

Instead, former Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick has taken the reins, ahead of a potentially prosperous new era.

And, as things stand at Kybun Park in Liechtenstein, Die Mannschaft is well on its way to a first three-point tour under the guidance of its new boss.

This comes with a dominant opening hour that culminated in a 1-goal lead for the visitors.

A brilliant break down the left saw Jamal Musiala finally slip into Timo Werner inside the Liechtenstein area, and Chelsea’s often-maligned hitman made no mistake taking the ball with stride before scoring accurately.

His goal, in turn, ended Werner’s ten-game scoreless streak:

Mustiala magic

Yet even though his finale has been a sight to behold, it is not Werner’s name that has made headlines amid Germany’s latest efforts on the competitive stage.

Instead, on the lips of the spectators of the confrontation in St. Gallen has been the name of another: the aforementioned Jamal Musiala.

The talented attacking midfielder Musiala is actually a product of Chelsea’s youth system, giants of the Premier League.

However, after spending eight years in the blues books, the prodigious talent made the decision to seek new pastures in the summer of 2019, swapping London for Munich at just 16 years old.

And to say that Chelsea’s defeat since then has shown the gain for both Bayern and Germany would be to take it lightly.

Following his last start for Die Mannschaft at the age of just 18, Musiala’s assist tonight showcased all the remarkable talents the midfielder / winger possesses in one.

Pace, frankness, touch, one-on-one skill, vision and most importantly the final ball to finish it off, Musiala has long been heralded to regular German football viewers.
