Tottenham duo will miss up to three duo matches to quarantine rules

Argentine controversy

The international breakdown during a global pandemic was never going to be easy. For those Premier League stars representing Argentina, this is especially the case, with the country currently on the UK travel red list.

The red list indicates the countries that should not be traveled to from the UK and, upon returning to the country, travelers must isolate themselves in a hotel for 10 days. According to the official government website:

“When you arrive in England you must quarantine in a managed hotel, including 2 COVID-19 tests “

This, in turn, sparked speculation that Argentine players might not be released by their clubs, but both Tottenham and Aston Villa released a quartet of players anyway (Cristian Romero, Giovanni Lo Celso, Emi Martínez and Emi Buendia.

Announce the decision in a Official statement, Aston Villa revealed:

Both players [Emiliano Martinez and Emiliano Buendia] They have agreed to be available for the first two World Cup qualifying matches in Argentina against Venezuela and Brazil, but will not participate in the third international match against Bolivia.

These arrangements mean that Martínez and Buendía will only miss our Premier League match with Chelsea before being available for Everton’s visit to Villa Park on September 18 to comply with UK Covid quarantine regulations.

the party list Tottenham posted on international matches also seemed to suggest that they had reached the same deal, with only two Argentine matches shown.

“The players are here for three games”

However, Argentine coach Lionel Scaloni may have broken that deal. Speaking to the press before their first meeting, Scaloni stated:

“We gave the list of the three games and there is no doubt. The players are here for all three games ”.

The last of these matches does not end until the early hours of September 10 UK time, which means that the players would not be back until the night of the 10th at the earliest.

In turn, they would have to be quarantined until September 21 at a managed hotel, which would likely limit the amount of training they could undertake.

This would see the Tottenham pair miss vital Premier League matches against Chelsea and Crystal Palace, as well as a third-round Carabao Cup tie against Wolves. His fitness for the match is likely to be touch and ready for the North London derby, which takes place on September 26.

Villa’s duo will also be unavailable for their match against Chelsea, as well as a clash with Everton, while they will also be ready for the Villians Carabao Cup tie, again with Chelsea, on September 22.

How much of a blow could this be to both sides?
