Manchester City ‘currently in pole position’ to get Erling Haaland

Manchester City 'currently in pole position' to get Erling Haaland

That’s right, the 2021 summer transfer window hasn’t closed in 24 hours, but we’re already looking towards next year’s window.

Manchester City lose a forward

Manchester City were able to win the 2020/21 Premier League campaign without using a recognized striker so often.

Sergio Agüero would be out of the game for much of the season and has since left the club, while Gabriel Jesús was used sparingly and at times in a wide role rather than as a center forward.

And while City were able to achieve success using a false nine approach, it was pretty clear this summer that they were looking for a new number 9.

The main forward they would be looking at this summer was Harry Kane, and City made at least two offers before Spurs president Daniel Levy began to refuse to negotiate:

However, City’s search would end when Kane confirmed on August 25 that he would stay at Spurs this summer:

Then there was talk that Cristiano Ronaldo could be on his way to the Etihad.

However, Manchester United would move for Ronaldo as ‘couldn’t hold on’ the prospect of him signing for City.

Man City and Haaland

This has left Man City without a suitable No. 9 until at least the January window.

Now, however, the Manchester powerhouse is being linked with Erling Haaland.

It has been reported for some time that the Norwegian is expected to have a release clause activated in the summer of 2022. He suggested between 75 and 100 million euros

Now, Sport Witness citing German media Bild, informs that the sale price of Haaland will be set at 75 million euros, plus an additional payment in bonuses, in 2022.

The same report adds that Man City is currently in pole position to land the hit man.

They go on to explain that the City will have the financial means to pay the transfer fee, salaries, and agent commission. However, Pep Guardiola would have to choose whether to sign Haaland or make another approach for Kane.

Five coaches Arsenal could realistically sound out to replace Mikel Arteta
