Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka tests positive for Covid-19

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka tests positive for Covid-19

Xhaka reportedly tests positive for Covid-19

Arsenal have been plagued by Covid-19 in their camp for the first three games of the season, with Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ben White and Willian missing from the first team due to the virus.

His bad luck has also continued into the international break, with Granit Xhaka the last Gunners player to test positive for the virus.

The positive test means Xhaka will not take part in Switzerland’s international matches for the next week, which include home games against Greece and Italy, as well as a trip to Northern Ireland.

According to the news outlet SRF:

“Xhaka was diagnosed with symptoms on the morning of the game and was immediately isolated in his room. A rapid test was negative, but the subsequent PCR test that was carried out to be on the safe side showed a positive result overnight. “

What does it mean for Arsenal?

In short, it means little to Arsenal. Xhaka was sent off in Arsenal’s last Premier League game, against Manchester City, and will therefore miss his next three games.

As such, Xhaka will have to stay out of matches against Norwich, Burnley and AFC Wimbledon, meaning that he may not play a competitive soccer game again until the North London derby, which would leave him almost a month without. match.

Arsenal currently have Sambi Lokonga, Thomas Partey and Mohammed Elneny as options in central midfield, and the Swiss team, of which he is captain, is likely to be the one who will miss him the most.

We wish Granit all the best in her recovery.
