Latest on Everton’s play by Salomon Rondon

Latest on Everton's play by Salomon Rondon

An update on Everton’s reported interest in Salomon Rondon surfaced Tuesday afternoon via The Athletic.

Everton linked with Rondon.

Despite having Dominic Calvert-Lewin on their books, Everton appear to be looking for a move for another forward before the window closes Tuesday night.

That player is said to be Salomon Rondon, who previously worked with Rafa Benitez when the pair were in Newcastle together.

Rondón would score 12 and assist seven in 33 starts for the Magpies before departing for China, where he once again joined Benitez.

And now, it seems that the Spaniard really wants to meet the striker again for 3rd weather.

On Monday the news would arrive that Everton were in talks to sign Rondon:

But after said update, we hadn’t seen many mentions of the deal during the deadline day, perhaps leaving Everton fans concerned that a deal might not be happening.

However, as mentioned above, a new update on the situation has now been posted online via The athletic.

They reported Tuesday afternoon that Everton still hope to complete a move for Rondon before tonight’s deadline and a move is on the agenda after Moise Kean left the Toffees for Juventus.

Athletic adds that, although an agreement has not yet been reached, there is still hope of finding a solution before the window is slammed shut.

And, while Rondon would be expected to act as a backup for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the prospect of reuniting with Benitez is said to appeal to the 31-year-old.
