Ronaldo returns

In a puzzling turn of events, Cristiano Ronaldo has rejoined Manchester United in a Juventus deal. It was apparently at one point thought that he would join arch rival Manchester City, but since then United have done their best to see the deal go through and the Portuguese forward to return to Old Trafford.

Manchester United revealed in their announcement that Ronaldo signed a two-year deal, with the option of one more year, meaning he could play for the Red Devils until age 39 if he were to close the deal.

As for the fee, it has reportedly cost Manchester United € 15 million, with an additional € 8 million in add-ons, bringing the potential deal to € 23 million.

What they say

Talking to the officer Manchester United website, Cristiano Ronaldo said:

Manchester United is a club that has always held a special place in my heart and I have been overwhelmed by all the messages I have received since Friday’s announcement. I can’t wait to play Old Trafford in front of a packed stadium and see all the fans again. I am looking forward to joining the team after international matches and I hope we have a very successful season ahead of us. “

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continued:

“You run out of words to describe Cristiano. He is not only a wonderful player, but also a great human being. Having the desire and the ability to play at the highest level for such a long period requires a very special person. I have no doubt that he will continue to impress us all and his experience will be vital to the youngest players in the squad. The return of Ronaldo demonstrates the unique appeal of this club and I am absolutely delighted that he is returning home, where it all began.
