Barcelona lines up shock move for Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani

Barcelona lines up shock move for Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani

Ronaldo joins

Earlier today, Manchester United confirmed the addition of Cristiano Ronaldo to their team, the Portuguese legend who rejoins the club after 13 years away.

Manchester United revealed in their announcement that Ronaldo signed a two-year deal, with the option of one more year, meaning he could play for the Red Devils until age 39 if he were to close the deal.

As for the fee, it has reportedly cost Manchester United € 15 million, with an additional € 8 million in add-ons, bringing the potential deal to € 23 million.

Cavani’s future in the air

Cristiano Ronaldo’s big move has understandably left question marks about the future of current number 7 Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan signed a new one-year deal just a few months ago, but will surely see his playing time drastically reduced with the arrival of Ronaldo, who now plays exclusively as number 9.

The club is reported to have “hopes” that he will remain at the club after the deadline, but it is easy to see that his head is now turning with limited minutes.

And it seems that a potential suitor has emerged in the form of FC Barcelona. The Spanish club has already signed Sergio Agüero this window, but the injury has meant that the Argentine has not signed up for the club.

Consequently, Gerard Moreno reports that they have turned their attention to Manchester United’s Edinson Cavani, with the club in “advanced negotiations” with the forward.

Would this be the best result for all parties after the arrival of CR7?
