Arsenal dealt a coup in an attempt to get rid of a fringe player as talks stall

Arsenal dealt a coup in an attempt to get rid of a fringe player as talks stall

Arsenal Summer Cleanup

Every year, Arsenal seem to need a summer cleaning. This summer has been no different, with many fringe players believed to be for sale as the gunners aim to cut back on their bloated and, frankly, average squad.

The likes of Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi, Dinos Mavropanos and Joe Willock have all left the club so far, and they are more likely to follow.

The likes of Willian, Sead Kolasinac, Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson, Hector Bellerin, and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are set to be available for move-ins as the transfer window moves toward the deadline (August 31).

Kolasinac deal hits a snag

However, one outlet that could fail before the end of the window is that of Sead Kolasinac. The full-back was on loan to Schalke during the second half of last season, and has since been replaced in the Arsenal squad by new signing Nuno Tavares, who has impressed with his limited appearances after arriving from Benfica.

The Bosnian was thought to be in talks with the Turkish Fenerbache about a possible estrangement from the Emirates. However, this may no longer be the case.

According to Fenerbache expert Ahmet Selimkul, the deal is on the verge of collapsing and the Gunners are refusing to terminate Kolasinac’s contract. To make things more difficult, they are also asking the Turkish side for a transfer fee.

For all parties, it would be better if this issue was resolved between the two clubs, turning the page on an ultimately bad transfer for the Gunners.
