All the damning stats behind Arsenal's hammering at the hands of Man City

Man City vs Arsenal

At the start of the Premier League on Saturday, Manchester City and Arsenal will go head-to-head.

The Sky Blues headed into the clash looking to build on their 5-0 hammering over Norwich last time out.

Meanwhile, Arsenal crushed West Brom in the League Cup earlier in the week but had lost their first two PL games of 2021/22 before facing a City team they have a lousy record against in the league.

And that terrible record looked set to continue when Ilkay Gundogan was able to pass Calum Chambers to lead City to the front after just seven minutes:

Arsenal’s lackluster defense was on display less than five minutes later, when a Bernardo Silva cross was able to pass through a host of Arsenal defenders to Ferran Torres, who edged out Bernd Leno.

And, minutes after Granit Xhaka was sent off, Gabriel Jesus made it 3-0 in the 43rd minute.

Arsenal’s troubles continued shortly after the second half, when Rodri made an effort to get past Leno from the edge of the area. Torres then completed the score after 84 minutes, giving City a 5-0 victory.

The stats behind Arsenal’s start of terror

Following their beating at the hands of Manchester City, a number of very worrying statistics have emerged showing just how dismal Arsenal’s start to the 2021/22 campaign has been.

First, after going down 2-0, Opta revealed that Saturday’s game was the first goal Arsenal have conceded twice since the start of a Premier League match since December 2017 when they played Manchester United. :

Below, it was confirmed that no player has been sent off more times than Granit Xhaka in the Premier League since their debut:

However, the damning statistics were not made there, as Opta reported that Saturday’s game was only the second time Arsenal had a man sent off and they were more than 3 goals behind at halftime in a league game. Premier League:

All of the above stats will be released within the first 45 minutes of action at Etihad.

But the horror stats weren’t made there yet, with all the more emerging full-time host:
