Manchester City vs Arsenal

At the start of the Premier League on Saturday, Manchester City and Arsenal will face off.

The tie, of course, pits Pep Guardiola against one of his former assistants, Mikel Arteta.

Arteta, however, doesn’t have a great recent record against her old boss. He would beat Pep en route to the 2020 FA Cup. But he has since lost the next three outings against Manchester City.

And with Arsenal having lost their first two outings of 2021/22 without scoring a single goal, another City win is anticipated this weekend.

Pep Guardiola on Ronaldo

Before Saturday’s tie, Pep Guardiola would hold his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.

The Spaniard would draw on several topics in his press conference, including Cristiano Ronaldo, who has been linked to Manchester City and is said to have left Turin on Friday afternoon:

But when he relied on Ronaldo before Arsenal, Pep revealed little:

“I can’t say much. Harry Kane announced that he is still at his club, an exceptional club like Tottenham. Cristiano was at Juventus, I think he was a Juventus player. I can only say that in the three or four days that remain in the transfer window, anything can happen. In my opinion, there are few players, including Ronaldo and Messi, who decide where they are going to play. They are the main role in negotiations. Right now I am delighted with the squad we have and we will continue the same ”.

So when you press comments from Max Allegri that Ronaldo will not play for Juventus again, Pep added:

“I am incredibly happy with the squad I have, more than satisfied. We are the same boys, Sergio leaves and Jack arrives. I say the same, these types of players decide. There is a little left because we have to negotiate. Messi decides to go to Paris and he went to Paris. They knock on the door, they knock. After that, I can’t control it. I am focused on what we have to do and the players I have ”.
