England’s latest international team was unveiled a short time ago, and a number of noteworthy takeaways have since been unveiled.

Bamford included

Of course, Gareth Southgate’s men will return to action early next month, as part of the latest international hiatus.

In the nation’s first test of action since approaching inches from glory at Euro 2020, the Three Lions will play a trio of World Cup qualifiers.

First comes a trip to Budapest, to face Hungary on September 2. And this will be followed by a Wembley meeting with Andorra three days later, before England get back on the road to face Poland on September 8.

As such, as is customary in the weeks leading up to an international break, Southgate today confirmed the players that they will represent the Three Lions in their final round of matches.

They feature a number of eye-catching inclusions, most notably in the form of Leeds United hitman Patrick Bamford, who has finally been rewarded for his stellar exploits on Elland Road with a debut call-up in England.

Meanwhile, Liverpool stopper Trent Alexander-Arnold is too far back among the nation’s ranks, having been controversially omitted from Southgate’s team for the European Championship:

‘In the right moment’

Without doubt, the decision to have sparked the most debate in regards to England’s last panel, however, came in the form of the omission of Mason Greenwood.

Manchester United’s talent Greenwood has enjoyed a good start to the new campaign, scoring in his two Premier League appearances to date.

In turn, the rejection of the 19-year-old on Thursday was a big surprise.

Thus, Gareth Southgate was inevitably drawn to her call to leave Greenwood in Manchester during a press conference not long ago.

And the Three Lions boss seemed keen to stay positive when it comes to the Red Devils attacker’s prospects internationally going forward, ensuring Greenwood will take a more prominent place under his supervision ‘at the right time’ :

He is in our thoughts, I have spoken with him and with his club. He is a player that we really like and we believe that he has every chance of being a top player in England, we are all very aware that we progress at the right time. ”
