Kane remains at Tottenham; Progress champion Paratici & Espírito Santo

The love story between Harry Kane and Tottenham will continue during the 2021-22 Premier League campaign after the English international decided to stay at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Most expected Kane to complete a big money move for league champions Manchester City this summer as Pep Guardiola sought a replacement for outgoing Sergio Aguero, who went to Barcelona earlier in the window.

But even though deals were closed for his England teammate Jack Grealish, City were unable to get Kane out of north London, with the Lilywhites sniper set to settle under new boss Nuno Espírito Santo.

Kane and the Paratici effect

Few can argue with how well Fabio Paratici has started working at Spurs since moving from Juventus. The new soccer managing director has presided over an impressive business so far this summer, drawing both Cristian Romero and Pierluigi Gollini from Serie A Atalanta, as well as young Bryan Gil from Sevilla.

And it’s not over yet, with Tottenham tied to interest in teams like Houssem Aouar, Weston McKennie, and former winger of Espírito Santo Adama traore. But perhaps his best contribution to his first deals from Tottenham’s war room is keeping Harry Kane this season.

For face value, holding onto his prized bull in a summer when the Premier League champions were interested in his services is an automatic win for Tottenham. But the bigger question will always be how to replace a player who is virtually irreplaceable in a stressed market.

Spurs linked to rumors of interest in several center forwards this summer, including Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martínez and Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahović, continuing the theme that Tottenham views Serie A as a hunting ground for the 32-year-old. of experience of Paratici in Italy. as a player and in various high-level capacities after retirement. But those wells dried up as no expected restitution to Harry Kane’s question was ever found.

But Paratici’s job, along with Espírito Santo, of staying vigilant in his attempts not only to retain Kane but to convince him of the project that he is still the vital piece, is a job very well done.

For Espírito Santo to truly instill his approach and philosophy in the Spurs, a center forward in Kane’s mold was already a requirement. The wolves’ fight after Raúl Jiménez’s terrible injury last season showed just how vital that piece of the puzzle is.

Maintaining control of Kane makes his job enormously easier while also serving to leverage forwards Son Heung-Min, Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura as internal doubles for players like Diogo Jota, Daniel Podence and Pedro Neto; three players who really stood out under his command at Molineux.

With Spurs starting their season with two straight wins against Manchester City and Wolves, one has to imagine that now that Kane has secured his temporary future at the club, anything could be possible.
