Carabao Cup Third Round Ball Numbers Revealed

Live broadcast of the Carabao Cup

The Carabao Cup begins again

The English League Cup started again yesterday for Premier League teams, and Premier League clubs not involved in European football (including Arsenal) joined the competition in the third round.

Reigning champions are Manchester City, who beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 without a manager last season amid the fallout from the Lilywhites’ split with series winner Jose Mourinho.

29 of the 32 teams remaining in the competition have been decided, but three draws remain to be played tonight. Are:

Newcastle United vs Burnley

West Bromwich Albion vs Arsenal

Newport County vs Southampton

This season there will be no overtime in the competition, with a draw at 90 minutes going straight to penalties, but who stays in the competition?

The likes of Cheltenham Town, Oldham Athletic and Rochdale will be hoping for a good draw against one of the “big six”, both to increase gate revenue and in an attempt to create a giant death story.

The draw will take place after the second round playoffs conclude and will be available to watch in the Sky Sports main event.

Are Manchester City good enough to retain their title for the fifth consecutive season, or will players like Chelsea, Manchester United or Liverpool usurp their throne? Could we even see one of the lower league teams return to the final, like we did with Bradford City in 2013?
