Liverpool announce departures of Woodburn and Shaqiri

Imminent reinforcements? Liverpool confirms pair of offensive starts

Premier League giants Liverpool confirmed a pair of club team outings on Monday night.

Konate the lonely arrival

The summer, up to this point, has of course been a quiet summer when it comes to tickets at Anfield.

In fact, Jurgen Klopp and company. They have only added a lone corps to the ranks of the club, in the form of defender Ibrahima Konate.

A deal for the French talent Konate was beaten before the transfer window technically opened, after those in a position of power at Liverpool opted to activate defender RB Leipzig’s release clause.

On the other hand, the Reds board has been much more active when it comes to player exits.

So far, all key midfielders Georginio Wijnaldum, longtime borrower Marko Grujic and the youth product Harry Wilson have been permanently relocated.

Furthermore, Ozan Kabak, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Anfield from Schalke, has since returned to Veltins Arena.

Shaq joins Lyon

And, as described above, not one, but two more departures from Jurgen Klopp’s ranks were confirmed on Monday.

The first comes in the form of a loan, as young forward Ben Woodburn, as expected, joined the Scottish team Hearts for the remainder of the campaign:

The other, however, is set up to add a much-needed boost to the transfer kitty at the disposal of the red boss Klopp.

After another difficult campaign in Merseyside, Xherdan Shaqiri has officially moved to French Olympique Lyonnais, permanently.

The deal, like confirmed for OL, it will give Liverpool a fee of around € 6 million, plus another 5 million in possible add-ons.

Could those funds, in turn, be used to add a new face to the long-needed ranks of Liverpool’s first team?
