Tuchel on Reece James’ well-being after nasty collision with Arsenal

Thomas Tuchel on the welfare of match winner Reece James after a nasty collision with Arsenal

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel provided an update on the well-being of star defender Reece James on Sunday night.

Lukaku returns with a bang

Of course, Tuchel’s Blues was back in action recently.

Chelsea made the trip to the Emirates for a Premier League meeting with Arsenal, hoping to build on a comfortable opening day win over Crystal Palace.

And when all was said and done in North London, taking two wins out of two is precisely what the visitors did.

A commanding display, during which Chelsea could and probably should have added more to the scoreboard, eventually culminated in a 2-0 final score.

Romelu Lukaku, lining up for his second debut in the Pensioners colors, opened the scoring for the night courtesy of a simple close-range finish with a quarter of an hour on the clock:

And Reece James, who put forward Lukaku’s first goal, secured Chelsea’s three points shortly before half-time, choosing the far corner with a precise right-footed shot:

‘He was surprised’

However, an otherwise stellar evening for Tuchel’s men also featured a totally disturbing moment from a Blues perspective.

At the end of the action in the Emirates, a heavy collision between match winner James and Arsenal substitute Nuno Tavares knocked the former down and, at first glance, apparently knocked him out.

However, it soon became clear that James was conscious and was simply recovering from a severe blow to the head.

However, speaking about the later part of the action that comes to an end in the capital, Thomas Tuchel was inevitably drawn to the well-being of his plug, amid concerns that he may have suffered a concussion.

However, the Chelsea boss was quick to quell those fears, revealing that James’ main concern was a potentially broken tooth:
