Drogba and Spartak Moscow among those who mock Arsenal

Didier Drogba and Spartak Moscow among those who mocked Arsenal's defeat after Chelsea

Amid the widespread fallout from Arsenal’s loss to Chelsea tonight, a couple of posts on Twitter have gone viral since then.

Lukaku on target

Mikel Arteta’s men, of course, were back in action a short time ago.

The Gunners welcomed capital rivals Chelsea to the Emirates in hopes of bouncing back from an embarrassing day one loss at the hands of newly promoted Brentford.

However, when all was said and done in North London, things only went from bad to worse from Arsenal’s perspective.

With a host of the club’s star players once again missing through injury, the hosts were simply outmatched by a far superior Chelsea side, en route to a 2-0 loss.

Romelu Lukaku, who is lining up for his second debut in the Chelsea colors, opened the night’s scoring in 15 minutes, clinging to the delivery of Reece James in the face of the goal to fit home from close range:

And the scoring of the game was completed ten minutes before the break, when James this time became a scorer, choosing the furthest corner of Bernd Leno’s net with poise:

‘The same old story’

Arsenal, in turn, are now in the relegation zone of the Premier League, having conceded four times and failed to find the net once in the club’s first two outings of the campaign.

As a result, both rival and neutral fans have unsurprisingly opted to target Mikel Arteta’s men, ahead of what could prove to be another challenging year in the English capital.

And, as described above, two of those examples of Gunners getting attacked have started to gain attention on social media.

The first came in the form of a Twitter post from Russian giant Spartak of Moscow.

The Arsenal women’s team faced their Spartak counterparts in the Champions League last night, finally emerging on the right side from a 3-1 scoreline.

In turn, as the Gunners’ men worked hard in their efforts to beat Chelsea, Spartak took the opportunity to poke fun at Arteta’s men:

However, the Spartaks were far from the only ones.

Another who has since seen his Gunners jibe go viral is former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, who posted a simple but highly effective message on his personal Twitter account:
