Solskjaer updates Man United plans for Amad Diallo

Revealed: The Latest On Man United's Plans For Amad Diallo

A new take on Manchester United’s plans for young Premier League Amad Diallo will be unveiled on Friday.

The season of the reds

Ivorian star Amad, of course, made the long-awaited move to Old Trafford in January.

The 19-year-old was at the center of one of several deadline deals reached by United last October, when he joined Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles and Facundo Pellistri in putting pen to paper in terms of the men of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Diallo, however, unlike the trio mentioned above, did not actually move to Manchester at the time.

Since the Reds had been waiting for international clearance and the processing of a new passport for their latest big-money addition, it was decided that he would remain in Italy for the first half of the campaign.

Upon his arrival at the Theater of Dreams, which finally came true during the winter window, it was no surprise that the African struggled to land first-team opportunities.

In total, in the second half of the campaign, Amad had seven appearances for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, five of which came from the bench.

Throughout these outings, the teenage wide open player directly contributed to a couple of goals, courtesy of an assist, and the finish shown below against AC Milan:

‘I wouldn’t be surprised’

However, with the new season of course already underway, it has not long been clear what United’s plans for Amad in 2021/22 entail.

Jadon Sancho’s arrival in the summer at Old Trafford will only have pushed the explosive youngster further down the Red Devils’ pecking order, sparking unavoidable speculation that Amad could still be loaned out.

And, as described above, an insight into the situation was provided on Friday.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of United’s upcoming meeting with Southampton, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was asked for an update on the club’s plans for Amad, amid rumors of interest from Sheffield United.

The Norwegian, however, went on to reveal that the situation remains somewhat up in the air, with no temporary stint outside Manchester, nor a place in his plans for the first team for next season, which is yet to be ruled out:
