Chelsea winger out of Arsenal clash due to Covid-19, Tuchel provides update on Kante injury and Lukaku could appear

N Golo Kante

Arsenal vs Chelsea

Next week’s big tie of Premier League matches will take place on Sunday afternoon.

That match will see Arsenal host their rivals from the capital, Chelsea.

The two teams would have contrasting starts to their 2021/22 seasons.

Chelsea have already clinched a trophy this year, beating Villarreal in the UEFA Super Cup.

Then the Blues began their domestic campaign in style, putting Crystal Palace to the sword by three goals to nil.

Marcos Alonso, Christian Pulisic and Trevoh Chalobah all went on target against the Eagles.

Meanwhile, Arsenal would fall to a disappointing 2-0 loss to newly promoted Brentford on Friday night.

Thomas Tuchel on Lukaku, Kante and Pulisic

Before Sunday’s game, Thomas Tuchel would speak to the media on Friday afternoon.

The German discussed a number of topics in his press, including injury news.

N’Golo Kante would miss Chelsea’s first Premier League match beat in the Super Cup earlier this month.

It was then reported that both he and Christian Pulisic did not participate in Chelsea’s open training session on Wednesday:

Therefore, there was no question that there was some concern about the pair’s availability against Arsenal.

However, in its presser, Tuchel would provide mixed updates on the pair. First of all, Christian Pulisic will miss out on Arsenal after testing positive for Covid-19. Kante, on the other hand, could still be in the squad on Sunday:

“Unfortunately, Christian has had a positive test and must follow the protocols. He has not been training and is not available for the game. Hakim and N’Golo trained yesterday, so tomorrow we need to have a more intense physical session and decide tomorrow. Right now, it seems very positive that both can be in the squad for Sunday ”.

Elsewhere, Tuchel confirmed Romelu Lukaku is likely to play some role against Arsenal

“We have one more training session left, but the week was a heavy load. I was with the late starter group, so it’s been a busy week so far. Today was low intensity and tomorrow we will have an important session before the game. We hope he is on the field on Sunday and it seems likely. “
