The news that Arsenal fans were waiting for arrived on Friday morning.

The Gunners have officially re-signed Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid following his successful loan deal during the second half of last season.

However, unlike 2020/21, Arsenal now have Odegaard permanently.

Unfortunately for Arsenal fans, the club has confirmed that Odegaard will play no role against Chelsea this weekend:

The transfer is subject to the completion of regulatory processes and visa requirements. Martin will not be available for Sunday’s game with Chelsea, and we await visa approval before he is available for selection.

On the other hand, Arsenal revealed that Odegaard will wear jersey number 8 this campaign:

Arteta in Ramsdale

Odegaard is now Arsenal’s fourth signing of the summer behind Ben White, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares.

However, the north London team does not appear to have finished there, with a move for Sheffield United’s Aaron Ramsdale seemingly closing in.

Mikel Arteta would be interrogated in Ramsdale during his pre-Chelsea press conference on Friday morning and had this to say:

“We’ll see. There are still some red tape left. He also did his medicine for the most part. There are still some things to fix with Sheffield.”

The Spaniard also said the following about Ramsdale:

“I think they are [Arsenal fans] You will love his personality, his character, the quality that a goalkeeper has and what he is going to offer. It has enormous, enormous potential. “
