Ampadu will join Chalobah as part of Tuchel’s Chelsea plans for 2021/22

Thomas Tuchel makes a decision on the season plans of another of Chelsea's young stars

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has reportedly made a decision on his plan for young defender Ethan Ampadu, for next season.

Chalobah emerges

The issue of Tuchel’s bottom line in West London, of course, has proven to be a central issue in the media of late.

In early summer, it was considered almost a certainty that Chelsea were ready to dive into the transfer market, to secure further reinforcements at the heart of their new boss’s defense.

A host of names, in turn, were flagged as possible Stamford Bridge arrivals, and Sevilla’s Jules Kounde was viewed almost certainly swapping La Liga for the Premier League last month.

However, up to this point, such a move has not materialized.

However, this may well have been a direct result of the surprise first-team appearance of one of Chelsea’s blocks already on the books.

The player in question? Trevoh Chalobah.

After making the most of his chance to impress in the preseason, English talent Chalobah got a chance to start in the Blues’ first two outings of the campaign, against Villarreal and Crystal Palace.

And, the 22-year-old’s appearance was so impressive that, according to widespread reports, Thomas Tuchel made the decision to keep Chalobah for the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign:

Ampadu stands still

However, what many may have missed in the previous update on Tuchel’s plans for Chalobah was an additional update on another of Chelsea’s talented young defenders.

Ethan Ampadu returned to his base in West London this summer, after a stint with Sheffield United.

However, a sometimes difficult season for the Welshman and the Blades alike, it had been widely suggested that Ampadu would likely be loaned once more for next season.

However, according to the trusty Nizaar Kinsella, such a move, for the moment at least, seems out of place.

This comes with the Chelsea boss evidently impressed by what he saw of Ampadu so far:

Ethan Ampadu remains in the first team setup and can play defense or midfield. Chelsea are not yet ready to accept loan offers for the Welsh international, who has a chance to join Tuchel’s team this season.
