Pair of closed deals

First of all, good news for Arsenal fans was received yesterday as it became clear that a couple of deals were close.

First, Arsenal’s creative issues have been addressed a bit as Martin Odegaard is set to rejoin the club from Real Madrid, this time permanently.

The Norwegian spent the second half of last season on loan at the Emirates, but has convinced himself that the change will be permanent before next season.

Furthermore, Arsenal are on the cusp of signing Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who has been their number one target all summer. The deal is expected to be finalized before Sunday’s game against Chelsea, pushing the club back up to £ 30 million.

Ramsdale was notably absent from the Sheffield United squad last night as they fell 4-0 to West Brom, with the Blades coach saying after the game that:

“The deal is not complete but it is agreed between the clubs. I think the agreement is close to being finalized, but it may be soon ”.

These deals will bring Arsenal’s revenue number to five this summer, and will give the fanbase some additional hope after a disappointing opening day loss to Brentford.

“Genuine interest” in the right-back player exchange

However, Arsenal’s summer business may not be over yet. What they can accomplish in the last fortnight of the window, by all accounts, depends largely on expenses. However, one avenue that is being explored is swap agreements.

According to Football.London correspondent Chris Wheatley, one of those who could be involved in a trade is right-back Hector Bellerin.

According to the Wheatley report, the club has a “genuine interest” in designing an exchange agreement with Atlético de Madrid that would see Bellerin join the capital club in exchange for the arrival of right-back Kieran Trippier to north London.

Trippier, of course, spent several years of his career at Tottenham Hotspur, so it would be intriguing to see the reaction of fans to such a move.

Torreira prepares to return to Italy

Finally, it could be that the mysterious case of Lucas Torreira is finally put to an end. The Uruguayan has been out of Arsenal since the beginning of the summer and posted a photo of himself on vacation even as his team fell in a 2-0 loss to Brentford.

Now, however, it seems that a return to Italy is at stake, and Chris Wheatley reports that it is attracting the interest of “several Italian teams”.

It seems impossible that Arsenal could recoup even a fraction of the £ 25m they brought him to the club for, but it would be another player off the books as Arteta is now looking to slim down his squad.
