Jimenez returns

The Wolves began their Premier League campaign last weekend against Leicester City.

They would lose 1-0, not the result they wanted. But there was a big positive to take out of the game.

That was Raúl Jiménez starting his first competitive match since his horrible head injury in November 2020.

Jiménez opens up about head injury

The Wolves were facing Arsenal in a Premier League tie when Jiménez faced David Luiz.

The Brazilian needed some treatment and would be bleeding after the collision.

Jiménez, however, was in a much worse state and would be given oxygen before he was taken out on a stretcher and rushed to the hospital.

Now, after returning from his injury, which was a skull fracture, Jiménez spoke about the situation in a recent interview.

The forward revealed that he had bled inside his brain, and that doctors told him it was a miracle that he was still alive:

“From the first moment, the surgeons and doctors told me what happened and the risks. Sometimes it’s not what you want to hear, but it’s their job. They told me it was a miracle to be here.

“The bone had been broken and there was some bleeding inside my brain. So the surgery had to be quick and it was a very good job from the doctors.

“From the beginning, they supported me a lot. The skull fracture took a little longer than we all expected to heal and it really is a miracle for me to be here with you. “

Jiménez also spoke about his confidence that he will recover and be able to play football again:

“I always thought it was like an ankle or knee injury, and after my recovery I will come back to do what I love,” he said.

“I never thought about finishing my career or stopping playing. There was a possibility of that, but I was always confident that he was going to come back. “
